My blog admittedly has a grandiose title for a newbie with only a handful of experiences. I have only read a few books on OBEs with the last one being by Luis Minero. This last book (with its VELO technique) really is what made me take the next (small) step.
Then, after starting this blog (which really is nothing more than me keeping track of my baby steps into a new frontier), I came across Bob Peterson's blog. It is very interesting and informative. I'm reading his online book and am going to order the next book along with a list of books that came from his book reviews. While I still remain a skeptic (at least, officially, pending further personally obtained evidence), I must admit that I already expect to eventually "get there".

OBE Without Trying
I
couple of days ago I was lying on the couch and just resting. I
started to get close to falling asleep so, I closed my eyes.
Immediately, I felt the sensation of lifting out of my body. Like
the other times, I had no sight so proceeded to move away from my
body. When I finally was able to gain sight, I was in someone's
bathroom. I felt a real sense of being somewhere. It was a just a
boring bathroom. The lighting was really odd and drab, as if the
room was dark but I could see anyway. I made a quick note of the
walls and shower curtain and layout. I then tried to pass through
the wall but could only pass halfway through before bouncing back
into the bathroom. It was as if I had a magnetic pull to the
bathroom. I really had wanted to get more details of where I was and
try to recognize the location. I actually tried to grab the
doorknob. I did feel the knob briefly before my hand passed through
it. About that time, I jumped back to my body and opened my eyes.

Projection into another Realm or Super-Lucid Dream
Last night, I attempted to project. After a good, long while, I fell asleep and went into what I thought was a lucid dream. I don't have any lucid recollection of actually leaving my body. I came to realize that I had all of my senses including touch.
The place had buildings with very cool colors that were almost neon bright (maybe a city?). I kept reminding myself that I was, at the very least, as alert as I am in normal, awake mode. I do remember testing the environment. I would try to pass my hands through walls. Some I could but I could still feel the texture. One wall had the consistency of thick mud. I even taste tested the wall. It tasted slightly sweet which is probably because I was hoping it would be sweet.
There is not much else that I can remember because, stupid me, I have not gotten in the habit of journaling my memories after waking up before they get faint. I do remember that there was a whole lot more that I now can't remember (except for unconnected snippets).
If this place was a real place and not a Super-lucid dream, then it was definitely in a place that was in a whole other dimension (if that is the right word) with differing properties.

Newbie : First Post - Possible Validation
I
have been attempting to have OBEs for a couple of years now. I have,
just in the past couple of months, started to make some headway. I
think that this was probably the result of a new book that I had
bought that showed me some new techniques. While I have had a few
successes, I always seemed to have one issue or another. First of
all, I always seemed to be blind when I started and sometimes for the
whole duration. Second of all, I either lacked full lucidity or
lacked a full sense of presence as if I was really somewhere (versus
a lucid dream). Because of this, I could never be sure that I wasn't
just having interesting lucid dreams that I thought were OBEs. I
also have, thus far, not had my vision return while still in the
vicinity of my body. I definitely hadn't achieved the Holy Grail of
OBEs where I had validated my experience by observing something
during the projection and then confirming it after. I do believe in the integrity of some of the people that have studied this (including Robert Monroe) but, I will always be an open-minded skeptic until I see the evidence for myself. After all, they could all be as mad as a hatter. I guess that means if & when I do totally believe, I will join the Mad-Hatter's Club.
I
did, for the first time, receive possible validation two mornings ago
while I was house-sitting. I say “possible” because after the
experience, doubt started to creep in about the chances of just
getting things right by chance.
This
was my experience:
I
had been attempting OBEs in the morning after waking up as that seems
to be the best time. I did maybe about ten attempts with varying
degrees of success. Each time that I was finally able to get vision,
I was far away from my body. I did have some very interesting short
“trips”. On my last attempt, at floating up out of my body, I
lost all control. It was like it happened in fast forward. I
swooped up out of my body, shot through the bedroom wall out of the
front of the house, and flew really fast for a short distance before
coming to a stop at a white hatchback vehicle in front of a fence.
Then, it was over and I was back in my body. The strange thing was
it felt more like I saw a quick video from the point-of-view of this
experience and less like I was really moving in space. So, I was
blown away when I found this to be exactly what was across the
street. I know that I had not been in any position before to have
seen this with my sub-conscience. Still, such a fantastical thing has
my brain trying to come up with possible alternative explanations.
